Thanks for visiting the Beyond Softball website. My name's Riley Sullivan. I'm 22 years old and crazy about fastpitch softball! Thanks to some great role models in my life, I've grown to love this sport. In the 17 years I've played, I've learned that it's definitely not just a game. Softball is about growing friendships, encouraging others, leadership, hard work and much more.
Early in the summer of 2010 I talked with my family about how I could do something, through softball, in order to help others. I thought it would be cool to encourage inner-city girls to learn the game and experience all the awesome stuff that comes with it. My parents weren't exactly sure where to start, so I spent the first week of my summer vacation meeting with area urban leaders to talk about softball. Everyone I met was excited and full of great ideas. And then, Beyond Softball was born!
Beyond Softball's mission is to equip, encourage and empower girls and their mentors through fastpitch softball in the inner city. Our vision is to bring the Kansas City-area fastpitch community together so players have the opportunity to mentor and encourage girls who want to learn this great game.
